| Checking | Overdraft Protection
Overdraft protection gives you peace of mind.
You'll never have to worry about the inconvenience and expense
of returned checks, Debit MasterCard® transactions
or automatic debits with overdraft protection from Columbus Metro.
For your convenience, we offer two plans: overdraft from savings
and Metro Line, our personal credit line.
Overdraft from savings
Every member with a checking account receives overdraft from savings,
which automatically transfers funds from your primary share to your
checking account to cover checks and other transactions. In order
for a transfer to take place, sufficient funds must be available
in your primary share account.
If a transfer of funds is necessary, it will be reflected on your
monthly statement as well as on MetroWeb and MetroTeller. There
is no charge for an overdraft transfer from savings; transaction
limitations apply. Please note that overdraft from savings
will not automatically advance funds to cover a payment scheduled
through MetroWeb Bill Pay.
You can also apply for Metro Line,
our personal credit line. Depending on your credit limit, Metro
Line puts an additional $500 to $10,000 at your disposal and offers
further protection against costly fees for returned checks and check
card transactions. For more information about Metro Line, click
here or call one of our lending
professionals at 614.239.0210 or 800.986.3876.
The inconvenience, expense and embarrassment of returned checks
and declined debit cards are things of the past. That's because
Courtesy Pay allows us to cover certain transactions that would
normally be returned for insufficient funds. Courtesy Pay:
Gives you peace of mind - You don't have to worry that
an item will be returned unpaid or your debit card will be declined
because you are a few dollars short.
Saves you money - Merchants charge $30, $35 or more
when a check or ACH debit is returned for insufficient funds.
With Courtesy Pay, the merchant is paid in full.
Protects your credit - Because your item has been paid,
merchants don't have a reason to turn you over to a collection
agency or prevent you from writing checks in the future.
Courtesy Pay is available on all of Columbus Metro's checking
accounts. If your account is in good standing, we may, at our
discretion, pay overdrawn checks and ACH withdrawals up to $300
(up to $100 for Metro Merit accounts), including fees. You can also
extend Courtesy Pay coverage to your debit card transactions by
completing our opt-in form.
It will be your responsibility to bring your account balance positive
as quickly as possible. (We're sure you'll want to preserve your
good standing so you can continue to use this valuable service!)
